3D Printed Masking for High-Volume and Complex Geometry
Sierra Spray is actively incorporating 3D printed masking into our precision masking program to support higher volumes, tighter repeatability, and increasingly complex part geometry. Where traditional tape and hand-built masking can become time-consuming on intricate features, 3D printed masking tools allow us to create consistent, part-specific masks that fit accurately, reduce setup variation, and hold up through demanding coating processes.
This capability is especially valuable for hard-to-mask parts and repeat programs where throughput and consistency matter. We can design masking clips, caps, edge protectors, and custom interfaces that help maintain clean lines, protect critical surfaces, and improve overall process control across large production lots.
As part of our broader automation roadmap, Sierra Spray is in the process of purchasing our own 3D printing equipment. Our goal is to print masking tools in-house before the end of 2027, aligning with our planned automation initiatives and supporting faster turnaround, tighter control, and scalable high-volume production.
